Opportunity for peacebuilders living, working, and/or studying in North America and the Caribbean
The Rotary-Institute for Economics & Peace Partnership is one of Rotary’s three strategic partnerships, connecting the world’s leading think tank on peace (IEP) and the power of 1.4 million Rotary members worldwide – to educate and activate Rotary members as peacebuilders. Created in 2020, the Positive Peace Activator Program is the Partnership’s flagship training program. The Activator training program includes a competitive application process and a multi-day intensive training that is curated for each region. After the training, Activators agree to a two-year service commitment, providing presentations, leading trainings, and supporting projects with Rotary clubs, districts, and other stakeholders.
The Positive Peace Activator Program began with North America and Latin America in 2020, Europe in 2021, Asia and East Africa in 2022; and West & Central Africa in 2023. Since 2020, 212 Activators from 59 countries have been trained. To date, Activators have delivered 915 educational actions – equaling 11,191 hours of service – reaching 12,891,098 people. Please visit the Activator webpage to learn more.

Q: How is the Positive Peace Activator training program different than the IEP Ambassador Program?
A: The Rotary Positive Peace Activator Program is not the same as the IEP Ambassador Program. While both the Activator and IEP Ambassador Program focus on the Positive Peace Framework, which is at the core of IEP’s work, the Activator Program training format and level of involvement is significantly different. The IEP Ambassador Program takes place online over three sessions and involves a much wider remote network and a significantly smaller time commitment. The Activator Program training involves 20 hours of training in-person. Activators learn from expert trainers and are expected to commit to remaining engaged with the Activator network over two years post-training.
